If you choose a cheaper small board manufacturer they may not be able to cater to you. Likewise a higher priced board maker will make quality equipment, but you may be wasting money for their level of expertise.

Always get a quote before your purchase. Be sure to ask questions! You’ll want to find out the minimum order quantity. Some manufacturers may be able to product boards in hundreds batches. Others may require you to order thousands of boards at a time. You will definitely get a better price this way, but it may be out of your budget.

You can start quoting ahead of time to get a figure of how much money you’re going to need to pursue your project as well. Get as much information together as you can. Manufacturers don’t like to answer “general” production questions, because customers will try to hold them to it. A final production cost can vary a lot depending on ‘general’ circumstances.
