Protect Your Mobile Devices With Prey Security Software!

prey anti-theft computer mobile phone software

It happens all the time. You spend money on a high tech phone or laptop only to have it stolen with no way of recovery! The theif has made a clean get away with your mobile and probably dumped it for a nice price on some poor sap who didn’t know it was stolen. You just get to sit back and cry about it. Not anymore.

If you haven’t heard of Prey it’s an open source security software application. The software can either use the device’s built in GPS functions or access nearby wifi points to pin point a location that is surprisingly accurate. You can use this feature to track down the stolen item and use the reported data for a police report or retrieve it yourself if it was dumped or sold to a pawn shop.

It also features a screenshot and active session function. If the thief logs on to your device you can watch their activity. If they make a bad move like logging into their facebook, e-mail, or anything else with incriminating information to help you identify them you can screen shot this information to keep for yourself.

You can also fully lock down the PC to keep it from being useful to them at all. Even if you can’t recover your machine this is useful to keep your critical data and personal details away from criminals! This could include hiding your e-mail, history, and any stored credit card information that could be lifted from your machine.

You can even access your own webcam on your laptop to take a picture of the thief using your machine! The software runs totally undetected in the background so they probably won’t know until it’s too late even. You can send a request from the internet or SMS to start any functions on the software. Did I mention this is totally free and open source?
